UI and Mechanics Designer

DESCRIPTION

This game was a third year university group project where we had one artist, 4 designers and 1 programmer. The game is a robot fighter where two players take control a robot and fight each other until one player wins three rounds. My role was to create the in game and menu UI as well as creating a lot of the games functionality in unreal engine.

Mechanics Design

In this project our only programmer was not very reliable and didn't do a lot of the work that they were set, for this reason I had to take over a large portion of mechanics design. This was a setback however it allowed me to take on more responsibility in an area that I wasn't as confident in and in the end improved my ability to create mechanics using blueprinting. I created the main menu, character select screen, shooting, mele, round counter and player win screen blueprints as well as in game and menu UI design and integration. 

Menu UI

I originally planned on having a menu using 2D assets however in the end I chose to use a 3D menu because I thought that it fit the dark grungy theme of the game. It incudes a settings page a credits page and a level select screen that takes the player into the game.
